Voice Movement Therapy

Sam Whyte

Voice Movement Therapist, Artist, Mum

I am a song weaver and story singer. I enjoy vocal improvisation, CircleSinging and vocal exploration as a means to connect to my Self and all my various parts. My practice comes from my personal journey through mental health challenges. In work as an IFS informed Voice Movement Therapy practitioner, my desire is to help others feel deeply connected to their voices, their bodies and to create song, dance, story, art as container for even that which we have learned is unspeakable. I have found that the vulnerability that comes from compassionately connecting to the Shadow is vital to understanding our Selves and connecting to others.

AND..

Although I feel vulnerable in the light, I have begun to dance in it as well. Embracing William Blake "If the Fool will persist in their folly, they would become wise", I'm aware of the value of creative play and laughter. I believe that connection with curious, compassionate community to share our stories, make up songs, draw and dance is a vital part of keeping De-Light in our lives.

With exercises and games garnered from VMT and vocal improvisation, I want to offer a space in which harmony, dissonance, the unexpected and the unknown are all welcome.

What is Voice Movement Therapy?
